2013 Leinster Stillwater Bank Competition – Results

The Leinster Stillwater Bank Fly Fishing Championship took place on Sunday the 20th
October 2013 at Lough Aishling, Rathville, Edenderry, Co. Offaly. This is the fifth year
of the Championships and it is growing in popularity with new anglers participating each year.

This year approx thirty anglers participated in the event, to make the six person Leinster team to compete in the Banks Inter-Pro in early 2014.
In slight blustery conditions, fishing was slow, it was only after the second peg that fishing began to pick up. Towards the end of the day, anglers were catching trout on the surface using dry fly tactics but the last two pegs proved quite difficult for most anglers.
Top tactics on the day, sinking lines, booby minkies, booby Cats Whisker, blobs and a selection of dry flies.

Congratulations to Sean Dempsey who after making his debut to this event, won with a total of 9 fish. Veteran anglers to the event, Eugene Fagan was in a close 2nd and Hubert Smith, made the top three.

Best of luck to the top six angler who will represent Leinster in the Inter Provincial Bank Championship, and the opportunity make the TAFI Ireland Team to compete in the 2014 Four Nations International.

Special thanks to Joe and his Wife for the fantastic catering services that were on hand to the anglers.
Also to Pat Noonan, Charles Kennedy and Brian Lynch with their help and expertise in organizing the event.

Full results of angler who caught fish are as follows.
